Darryl is a researcher and practitioner in the field of IT Project Management, with a particular emphasis on the causes of IT project failure, and the consequences and impact of failure on client organisations.
Darryl holds a PhD in Business Information Systems, and is currently undertaking research in the School of Law at RMIT into the consequences of project failure and the role of arbitration, mediation and dispute resolution in project outcomes.
Darryl has led more than 20 IT Projects where he has had responsibility for program management, architecture, strategy, and commercial negotiations. The value of these projects has ranged in size from $1.8m to $1.5B. He has led Strategy and Architecture for several large Telco’s, and was the founder/CEO of one of the world’s first SaaS businesses. Darryl has run remote and distributed development teams across the world. He is a technology leader, educator, consultant, and expert witness.
His latest book on Cybersecurity is called “How the F*ck Did This Happen?”

Really good session. Taught in a small group, which allowed a lot of interaction and exchange. Very knowledgeable and experienced instructor who provided excellent real-world examples and feedback. Amazing to understand the sport and theatre behind the cross-examination process. The biggest “ah-ha” for me was positioning the expert as assisting the court (not the client) to bring facts against which rules of law could be applied.
